3D imaging overview

Our Equipment Enables You to Produce Three-Dimensional Pictures

Geola's Equipment produces two kinds of holograms - Reflection Holograms (left) and Transmission Holograms (right).

Silver Halide YES NO
Photopolymer NO YES
Embossed foil Initial image creation only YES

Geola's Equipment produces:

  • Holograms of real objects (historical artifacts, new products, models, people portraits)

  • Digital Holograms of virtual 3D scenes that are created using a computer

The hologram printing process in both cases is similar - Initially a master hologram of a real object or of a digital 3D scene is produced. Then a copy hologram of this master hologram is produced. The master and the copy are made by exposing photosensitive material to light produced by a special pulsed laser. Many copy holograms can be made from one master hologram. Like in Black and White photography, the master hologram, as well as the copy hologram must be developed and dried after exposure

Small runs of holograms of real objects or of virtual 3D scenes may be effected using our Holographic Studios (HS series). Larger runs of virtual 3D scenes may be done using our Professional Printing Equipment - Here an HRIP (holographic raster image processor) produces the digital master hologram and a G3D machine produces the required copies.
Our Equipment can produce:

  • Holograms/3D prints of real objects (historical artifacts, new products, models, people portraits)

  • Holograms/3D prints of virtual 3D scenes that are created in computer

Image Resolution

Each 2D digital image that makes up a 3D hologram is written at a resolution of 764x1024 pixels. For a rainbow hologram of 40cm x 60cm around 300 such images are multiplexed together. For a reflection hologram of 40 x 60cm around 9000 images are multiplexed together. The multiplexing of many images together significantly improves the final 3D hologram resolution, leading to a pleasing result strongly reminiscent of a pixel-less analogue hologram.
